Warning: this post will make you smile and it may make you cry.
I’d like to share an encounter I had as my heart was beginning to fail. I was headed to a cardiology appointment one January day. I parked the car, hopped out, locked the doors and headed towards the medical complex.
I made it to the curb in front of the complex went suddenly I was beyond breathless, absolutely terrified and at a standstill; I couldn’t take another step, so I sat down on the curb and began to cry. I had no idea what was happening, but I did know there was no way I was going to be able to walk to my cardiologist’s office.
Just then, seemingly and quite possibly, out of nowhere an African-American woman appeared. As I would soon learn, she was a woman of great faith reaching down to me she took my arm and hand helping me to my feet.
I told her where I needed to go [and] she said, “don’t worry; we will get there together”. We would take a step forward, then rest; She went at my pace and prayed out loud with me and for me every step of the way into the lobby where she then tracked down a wheelchair and took me up the elevator to my appointment.
I wish that I had had the presence of mind to ask her name and address so that I could send an appropriate thank you as she truly lifted me up, carried me in such a kind [and] loving manner; however, I turned and she was gone disappearing just as quickly as she appeared. I believe she was given charge concerning me in all my ways and no one will ever convince me otherwise.
“For He will give His angels charge concerning you in all your ways.” ~Psalm 91:11
